Oak Wood Cabinet Doors With Frosted Glass
Oak Wood Cabinet Doors With Frosted Glass

Of all cabinet woods, oak wood is the most popular. Variations in its color and knots are dramatic, making each piece as interesting as the other one. The strong grain patterns, however, can look really dark and boring when used extensively, such as in the kitchen or living room. For those oak wood lovers who do not want their kitchens or rooms to look heavy and gloomy, the solution is to install oak wood cabinet doors with frosted glass to some of the cabinets. Oak wood is a strong wood. There are two main varieties of oak wood, red and white. Most oak cabinets are from white oak, as this is more common. Both are straight-grained and have a coarse texture. An oak wood cabinet door with frosted glass is a refreshing addition to any room. The shiny surface of frosted glass reflects the light that enters the room, making the room look brighter, wider and more inviting. Glass also enhances the wood design and accentuates its color and wood grain patterns. The light color of frosted glass blends well with the tan and pink tones of oak. This makes frosted glass and oak wood a beautiful combination. Frosted glass is manufactured by blowing fine sand grains into the hot melted glass. The glass has an opaque look, ideal for those who find it hard to maintain clear glass, or would want to keep the contents of their cabinets private. Frosted glass is usually tempered. This means that the glass does not shatter into sharp pieces when broken but into small, harmless particles. This makes the glass safe for use. Because the door is made of glass, this makes it easy to clean and maintain, unlike if the door is purely made of wood. The tendency of wood to warp or buckle is also reduced. Also, this makes the cabinet door resistant to water and moisture. Of course, it is not necessary to change all your oak wood cabinet doors into frosted glass. You only need to change a few doors here and there. In the kitchen for example, you only need to change the ones near the ceiling, or those on the ends of a countertop, or the cabinet doors of an island. For display cabinets in the living room, sliding frosted glass doors can be installed instead of the oak wood door. Installation instructions and videos are available everywhere. You can search for it in the internet, or you can visit a hardware store. Installation kits are available together with the product that you bought, so make sure that you follow them well. With the new cabinet doors, you would also need to change the knobs and pulls of the doors. As you buy the frosted glass doors, be sure that you also purchase the knob or pull to match, if your door needs one. Some modern designs do not use knobs or pulls anymore because it already has the mechanism that allows opening and closing by just pushing the door. Having oak wood cabinet doors with frosted glass is easy. All you need is patience in looking for the right materials, and a little imagination. By installing frosted glass on your oak wood cabinet doors, you have extended the life of your cabinet while making it more appealing and well-designed.
